You don't really need much at Dag in the way of a "character", but much like the SCA, once people meet your persona, you ARE that persona. No one roleplays (as we think of it) at Dag, they're all just themselves with funny clothes on and a fantasy name - but you should pick a fantasy name you like, because once people meet you as that name, that's all they'll call you, forever. I don't think I've ever heard a Dag person call Rich anything other than "Hallbjorn" - so choose wisely.

 

On a related note, are we interested in having a structure to the unit, other than me directing us and everyone else hitting things? For that matter, is anyone else interested in playing the officer? I'll happily play the senior-NCO-type if someone else wants to be the Eltee. Are we interested in a whole rank structure, with goals and awards and stuff, or do we just want to show up and hit stuff? If you guys want to do a quasi-military structure, I'll happily come up with ranks, promotion criteria (knocked three people down in one battle, showed up for three events, owns one of each weapon type, helped do weapons check at a national event, etc.), insignia and so forth.
