Phil should buy an edge skiver...

I believe we have one, but considering that was the first belt he'd made and the high praise he got from the leather vendors at Sterling, I'd say it was a damn fine job. The next one can only get better..... and maybe he'll make it for me.

Please do not argue the finer points of leather craftsmanship with me.

Not arguing. Just saying that it was his first attempt at something that ornate and with all first attempts, you can only get better with time and practice. You've got years of experience, but from your own comments things don't always come out how you'd like or planned. You just keep doing and learning. That's all any of us can do.

From experience, ornate is easy. Solid craftsmanship is what's hard. Get him an edge skiver and a slicking wheel, and some practice, and that'll bump him up a good bit.

I apparently learned some leather-working skills by osmosis. I used the bodice I got last summer as a pattern to make this:

I was initially worried the leather would be too light to do the same job as the steel boning in the original, but (so far) it hasn't buckled.

I'm really happy with it! I've assisted in leather projects before, but this is the first thing I've made from start to finish.

So, I tried my hand at making a sheath for my dagger. It's a touch rough around the edges and I learned a bunch (like to water form and THEN cut into it's final form because the leather will stretch oddly with my luck). Not pretty, but functional. It'll do for a single event and it's better then stuffing the dagger into the back of my belt.

I also took the step and lined it with red crushed velvet.

Ver nicely detailed ears. With a lil blending to match your skin tone they'll look great.
I feel my bones: the strength,
I feel my muscle; the strength,
I feel my soul; the strength,
I feel the Sept,
Who grant me grace,
And by Their will: strength.

the boots? They would look pretty good on you. They'd go great with your shield and cape.
