  1. are these okay for use?

Personally, I do not think there is enough padding/foam on them to be legit for DAG fighting. But I'll let others chime in that are a bit more experienced in DAG than I am. :)

  3. Great Turkey War II

I know, just letting you know for sure that there generally wasn't a price for kids.. unless they are old enough to partake in combat activities, unless that's changed.
  4. Great Turkey War II

Brodash, the last I knew there wasn't a charge for kids for pretty much any Lostwithiel event.. as most of the kids that attend are still just too young over all. :D
  5. October 2nd Fighter Practice

location: Pinti Field 6th Street Rome, NY 13440 time: 12pm to 4pm Note: use the parking lot at the corners of Basile and 4th streets, as its right across the street from our normal location. If you park over by the pavilion or skate park, you'll be on the opposite side over all. I'll be at practice, just a little late than the general start time. Though, I'll swing by Flora's house and drop off the banner so it can be placed in the normal location when we use Pinti Field for either a battle day or practice. Come to find out, this past battle day that was planned.. people ended up having to work or other things came up, so it just turned out to be the wrong day over all from things. It happens, and can't be helped at times.
  6. Lostwithiel Battle Day

date: September 24th, 2011 time: 11:00pm to 3:00pm location: Pinti Field 6th Street Rome, NY 13440 Change of plans for this. We're going to be meeting in Rome at Pinti Field, same location as the last battle practice. There is a parking lot right across the street from the location, so you don't have to park over by the pavilion or skateboard park.
  7. Lostwithiel Battle Day

    New information posted above.
  8. Beardslee Castle Medieval Faire Dagorhir Demo

Yup, it has been cancelled per Beardslee Castle. They are looking at doing a new date in September, which might become and issue due to Badon for some. I will keep everyone posted, or Laura will through Facebook as to when we are told. And yes, it is mainly due to the hurricane/tropical storm that we are due to receive tomorrow. :: Sighs. ::
  9. Renaissance Battle Day [8.20.11]

ROME RENAISSANCE BATTLE DAY date: August 20th, 2011 time: 3:00pm to 6:00pm [or later] location: Ninety-Three Coffee House [7124 Canterbury Hill Road, Rome NY 13440] Planned battles, will happen depending on time: meat grinder (warm up) fort points battle (timed battle, with point to the side holding the fort) Queen's Championship Tournament (adult tournament, open to anyone) Kingdom's Youth Championship Tournament (child's tournament, open to all children who wish to take part) resurrection battle bridge battle I know Dave has plans on vending at a new medieval faire out in Watertown. Figured I would post the information for anyone that might be looking for something to do that isn't going with Dave. If not, then perhaps next Sunday for the Beardslee Castle Medieval Faire, which I will post that information later in the week. Queen's Championship: Yearly, the Kingdom of Newgarrd holds a one on one tournament.. in which the winner is declared the Champion of the Queen of Newgarrd. This person is the defender and protector of the Queen, and is noted by a hip favor that is passed on yearly.. in which the Champion defends their title and position. This has been opened to anyone who wishes to participate, and is not mandatory. Youth Championship: Obviously, this is more based for children.. and just something to make them feel apart of things in general. Other information: We are planning on doing a cook out as well, as the battles will be taken place.. if not ending around the times in which most people eat. Therefore, we are asking for anyone planning to attend to bring something to share. Hamburger, hotdogs and gatorade will be provided. We are also asking for perhaps a small donation of a $1.00 to provide to Ninety-Three for allowing us the use of the grounds and building.
  10. Renaissance Battle Day [8.20.11]

Its what the owner of the Coffee House asked us to do. And by us moving it to later in the day, people are able to do other things they had planned on doing as well.. and then come hang out. There is no charge for us using it at the times listed, hence why we are looking to just get a donation in general for allowing us to still be there and use the site.. even if its mainly outside, and inside for either drinks or bathroom.
  11. Upcoming Lostwithiel Events

We have a change in our event line up.. August 20th is now the Rome Renaissance Battle Day. With Laura being ill right now, and her being the main organizer of the general Rome Renaissance Festival.. we are going to forgo this year and look into pushing for next year, but with more than just two people attempting to put and run everything all the way around. And this would be open to any Legion member that has any ideas and what not, or would like to run battles during next year's festival.
  12. Upcoming Lostwithiel Events

Actually, when I arrived at the Dragon's Hoarde Battle Day there was about 12-15 people there.. with the majority of them being fighters. So, it would appear that some people decided to attend after all.. and we even had about half of them stick around for the cook out after the last tournament for the Battle Day all together. But as a side note, there may be a change in the upcoming events.. due to some un-foreseen circumstances that have come up suddenly. It will mainly effect the Rome Renaissance Festival, which is the same weekend as the Battle of Five Armies.
  13. Canal Fest Demo

Not planning on car pooling some people from Lostwithiel that have intensions on going? If not, let me know.. so I can pass the word along to everyone on Saturday during the meeting and cook out for you. Not sure who all is looking to go right now, as all I've heard of are three to maybe four.. not including myself and Laura.
  14. Saturday July 16

As it stands right now, from the count that I figured with Dame Flora.. it looks like there is going to be about 18 people there, with about perhaps at least a quarter to a half of them fielding. I will be there, but not until later in the day.. probably after the battles are over, as I have something else to attend earlier in the day. But the choice is all your's, as you are all still more than welcome to come out.. beat on who ever is there (as more people may show, if their schedules change) and partake in the story line that has been created.. not to mention, chill out and enjoy some food with everyone afterwards. If not, I fully understand.. and hoping to see some of you on Sunday, at the Canal Fest.
  15. New Chapters Discussion

I'll see what I can do to assist ya'll in Binghamton and surrounding areas, as that is where I was born and grew up. I will pass the word around to my friends there, and then from there.. while visiting that area, attend a practice or two.. and continue to pass along the word for ya.
  16. 2011 Event Schedule

Dave, are the dates the 21st thru the 23rd or the 14th thru the 16th? You listed the dates on the Lostwithiel forums are the 14th thru the 16th, and if those are not correct.. I'll jump on and fix that, along with the website to reflect the proper dates. Let me know when you have a chance, as there is no rush.. just attempting to ensure that I have things matching for Lostwithiel for other events and what not. Thanks!!
  17. Rag a Day Early

Otays, so we're not needed there until Sunday? Just let us know, and we'll go with what we have to. From the information I just got told, its just me, Kelila and Daylon going anyways. So it would be just the three of us, so if Dan still needs extra hands.. just shout.
  18. Rag a Day Early

Myself, Kelila and Daylon will also be down on Saturday.. as we are traveling with Oddayin and his family, as they are transporting some of our stuff within their trailer. There may be two other members of Lostwithiel traveling down with us as well.. so we'll be there to assist with what we can.
  19. Bald for Bucks at Ragnarok XXVI

Ya know, I do have to commend those of the Legion willing to do such a thing. As I am dealing with cancer on a personal status with my wife having three types of Stage Four.. reading something like this just puts a smile, not only on my face, but that of my wife's as well. If I didn't already shave my head, I would gladly sit beside the Legion member doing this and allow it to be done.. beyond a shadow of a doubt. HUR to the Legion!!!
  20. utica practice for thursday may 19th

If the weather is too crappy for an outdoor practice, you are more than welcome to use the indoor location in Rome from 7pm until you wanna leave. Just thought I would put that offer out for ya'll, just in case.
  21. May 14-15: Lostwithiel Demos near Utica

Yes, the SCA is scheduled to be there as well. Not sure if they will be having any sort of combat taking place, as from what I gather.. they are doing something else while there. But as it stands right now, pretty much all of the fighters in Lostwithiel are planning on attending. A pavilion will be up with tables for vending.. and what not. I will see what I can manage to dig out for an extra shade for weapons and armor. But none the less, feel free to come out and enjoy the days fighting. Only down time is between 2pm and 3pm on Sunday, as per request of the Organizer.. which Lostwithiel will be holding a meeting during that time.
  22. April 23: TI Conan event

Oh, speaking on loaner stuff.. I have the tabard here that I borrowed, as I wasn't going to return it to you with all the mud. Its been clean and will be with the others for you.. unless you need it prior, then I'll have to run it over to your place later this week.
  23. April 23: TI Conan event

Thanks hivemind and everyone else for allowing me to come out and play as one of you yesterday. Though I didn't do much for my own reasons, but I still wanted to say thanks.. as it was awesome to hang out with ya'll in general. Looking forward to Ragnarok, COK and other events.
  24. April 23: TI Conan event

Yeah, he only managed to call me and Dave bullies for asking him to go with us. LoL! We didn't saying anything besides that we're going out to Buffalo to play, wanna join us? But yet.. we're bullies. Gotta love those odd AoM guys. LOL!!
  25. MYSTERY MURDER IN LOSTWITHIEL date: March 19th, 2011 location: Ninety-Three Coffee House (Bethel Full Gospel Church) address: Corner of Gulf and Canterbury Hill Road, Rome NY time: 10am to 4pm fee: $5.00 per person (children are free) dayboard: bring a dish to share (no oven available at site presently) NOTICE: THERE WILL BE ROLEPLAYING TAKEN PLACE THROUGH OUT THE EVENT. "Darkness falls over the lands of Lostwithiel, as the lands cry out with the words of theft, foul play.. of MURDER. The King and Queen of the lands of Newgarrd have called for an investigation to be conducted, and for all to be resolved during a Royal Court held by Their Majesties." Synopsis: A farmer comes to court and speaks with the King that his sheep has came up missing and he feels that it was taken by someone who wishes to keep the prize sheep for their own or to sell it because its worth a good weight in gold. The King then tells the Duke to help the farmer with putting the word out about the missing sheep. A Cardinal is found dead at the chapel steps, there is one wound to his heart area of the chest. The weapon is not found. There is no area around the area the body was found that is bloody. There was no witnesses and there is no one stepping up saying that they killed him due to what ever reason. Clearly the theft of the sheep due to the animal being worth a hefty price in gold, they should look for anything or anyone who might suddenly change clothing, or being better off then they were before, or someone who is just acting guilty. Your best bet is to watch everything that everyone does and remember ask others your one clue per person even if its nothing to do with the info you need right then that info may actually come in useful to someone else. Characters will be interacting with one another asking about anything to do with the case at hand. Who killed the Cardinal, with what that he was killed with, why did he get killed, did he know about the sheep, was he attempting to locate the sheep? Who works for the Cardinal and what might they know? In the ending the death of the Cardinal will be a surprise to all, and with that surprise someone should know who did it, with what item did the killing, why they did the killing and where the sheep are at present moment. General Information: Actual knowledge that everyone will know: You will know who has been killed and they will be a ghost that you can ask only 1 question per person (children cannot ask questions - No cheating). If you are working as a team of 2 you still get one clue per person, and so on. You will know where they were killed. You will know what item they were killed with. You will know where this person was before they were killed and you will know what the person did the night before. Things will not know: You will have to find the item that did the killing. You will have to find clues from other people and put together all the clues. You will not know why the person was killed and you will not know whom did the killing. As you walk in to sign in and pay your admission fee you will be given an envelope. Inside this envelope will be one clue and there will be a list of things that you need to find and whom you should talk too and where you should look. Please pay attention to things around each room for there will be items with info on them, under them, in them and you never know where you might find a clue. Each clue will be marked. This is like an easter egg hunt but with envelopes. Things will be in plain sight and will not be hidden so that you have to take anything apart or anything to where you have to make a dangerous movement. Things to remember: Who, what, where, when & why. Characters will interact with each other in role-playing mode. If your character must talk to a guard while he attends the King or Queen then you will have to approach and ask the guard in character about your question. Role-playing is very big in learning who the characters are and what each character might know. Remember to write things on your envelope, you will not wish to forget anything, because at the end it will truly be a surprise. Schedule: 10:00am Site Opens 10:30am Weapon Inspection 11:00am to 2:45pm Battles 1:00pm Dayboard 3:00pm Royal Court (resolution of the Mystery Murder) 4:00pm Site Closes Dayboard: Please bring a dish to share at our dayboard table. Also please make sure you bring a ladle if you plan on bringing a soup or stew. We DO NOT have an oven on site so please make sure your dish is either a cold dish or can be warmed in a microwave or crockpot. A refrigerator is available to us to use. Dishes that would be great for the table are as follows, but please use the following list as an idea of the types of dishes that could be brought. Foods - Meat platters(ham, turkey, roast beef bologna), breads & butter, Olives & pickles, peanuts, Chex mixes, devil eggs, scotch eggs, cookies, brownies, cake, salad with dressings, a vegetable tray(broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, mushrooms, celery), cheese pepperoni and cracker tray ,sausages, salami's, kielbasa, any thing that can be made in a crock pot would be great just please make sure you bring an extension cord. Stews & Soups would also be a great item for the dayboard table. Again this is just a rough idea of foods that are great dayboard items. Please remember to RSVP what dish you will be bringing.
